OVERVIEW
A rewarding, in-demand career in nursing awaits you. Baldwin Wallace's four-year, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program will give you the clinical, leadership, communication and critical thinking skills to excel as a registered nurse.
You'll learn from professors who are nurses with years of clinical as well as academic experience. You'll develop a compassionate, holistic and team approach to patient care while gaining the skills to prepare you for leadership roles in nursing.
Please note that this program is for students who DO NOT currently have licensure as a registered nurse.
Nursing Clinicals Start Second Year
As a student in Baldwin Wallace's four-year nursing program, you'll begin clinical rotations during your second year that will continue every semester of the program. BW's outstanding reputation across Northeast Ohio's healthcare hub gives you clinical opportunities with world-renowned research hospitals and medical centers - Cleveland Clinic, Southwest General Health Center, University Hospitals, Educational Service Center of Medina County and Eliza Jennings.
Integrated, Innovative Approach to a BSN Degree
BW's concept-based nursing curriculum will give you a deep and integrated understanding of nursing concepts. It offers outstanding preparation for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).
Nursing Career Opportunities
Studying nursing at BW helps you build career-marketable skills. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment for RNs is expected to grow 12 percent from 2018-2028, which is much faster than the average job growth. Based on 2021 data, the national median pay for nurses is $77,600 annually.
The diverse roles of nurses include staff nurses, legal-nurse consultants, researchers, case managers, educators, community health nurses, and directors of nursing programs at hospitals, community agencies, school systems, long-term care and assisted living facilities, and hospices.
CURRICULUM
Baldwin Wallace's undergraduate BSN program provides a direct pathway to becoming a nurse. You'll take three semesters of foundation-building prerequisite courses before beginning nursing major courses and clinical rotations during the spring semester of your sophomore year.

BW's 4-year sequence of courses enables you to constantly build on your understanding of nursing concepts. Upon graduation, you'll be career-ready with versatile skills across multiple platforms - care provider, designer and manager - and be poised for advancement.

Nursing Professors Teach and Mentor from a Solid Clinical Foundation
Faculty in BW's BSN program are registered nurses with diverse experiences, degrees and certifications. They will work one-on-one with you to prepare you for success in your studies, clinical settings and the NCLEX-RN exam, which is required to become a registered nurse.
4-Year Nursing Program Builds In-Demand Skills
Earning a BSN degree from Baldwin Wallace's four-year nursing program offers distinct and ongoing career advantages. Among them, employers prefer RNs with a BSN because of their advanced skills and professional attributes that span leadership, communication, teamwork, critical thinking, case management, health promotion and the ability to work across a diverse array of healthcare settings.
Nursing Simulation Lab
You will learn complex nursing skills and practice these skills to decrease stress and increase patient safety. Mixed reality technologies, human patient simulation and standardized patients provide the foundation for your experiential learning. The simulation lab and HoloLens technology will help you feel more confident as you apply these skills throughout your clinical experience.

Professional Licensure

Renovated Facility for BW Nursing
A newly renovated health science building houses the nursing program. The facility includes technology-enhanced classrooms and learning labs, ample spaces where students can collaborate, study and socialize.
National Student Nurses Association (NSNA)
BW nursing students have the opportunity to join the NSNA. The mission of the NSNA is to:
- Bring together and mentor students preparing for initial licensure as registered nurses, as well as those enrolled in baccalaureate completion programs.
- Convey the standards and ethics of the nursing profession.
- Promote development of the skills that students will need as responsible and accountable members of the nursing profession.
- Advocate for high quality, evidence-based, affordable and accessible healthcare.
- Advocate for and contribute to advances in nursing education.
- Develop nursing students who are prepared to lead the profession in the future.
Choose Ohio First STEM Scholars Program
The BW Choose Ohio First STEM Scholars Program is open to Ohio residents who are entering Baldwin Wallace in the fall as a first-year student or transfer student and are interested in nursing. Students are eligible to apply to the program which also offers the Choose Ohio First scholarship, awarding substantial annual, renewable scholarships.
